Rhodes and Hart Studio is an independent hairdressing concept by Claire Ballantyne. Located in a quiet street in bayside Frankston, the studio offers specialist hairdressing services in a relaxed, private environment. Rhodes and Hart Studio has been designed to create an attentive one-on-one experience from start to finish. The studio proudly draws clients from Greater Melbourne and beyond who are looking for something outside the traditional salon model.

When you’re at the studio, the time is yours. It’s all about you and your hair. Bring a book, bring some work (if you’d like!) or just relax amongst the greenery and watch the world move slowly by.

Claire’s haircuts are performed primarily on dry hair, allowing her to observe and shape the hair in its most natural state. This approach allows the true personality of the hair to be expressed for ease of styling and great results when air-drying. The focus is on manageability and enhancing the client’s daily experience of their hair between visits.

The Rhodes and Hart Studio approach to colouring is to use subtle placement to enhance and celebrate your hair’s natural colour and texture. With a focus on hair health and condition, Claire’s special interest is finding what is unique and beautiful about your hair- which you’ve perhaps lost sight of along the way- and tapping into that, while bringing together your eye colour and skin tone. Each colour session incorporates a variety of techniques and is customised to the client at each and every visit.
Claire specialises in balayage, a technique whereby colour is painted directly onto the surface of the hair. This technique lends itself particularly well to longer grow outs, allowing colour to be refreshed seasonally, or in many cases once or twice per year.

How to book:
Studio bookings are made online using our easy to navigate system.
All colour services are booked based on a session length and are customised to the individual client within the time allocated to the booking.
Simply select the appropriate session using the date of your last R and H Studio colour service as a guide.
All colour sessions have a haircut and finish included unless otherwise specified.
New clients are warmly welcomed at the studio throughout most of the year and encouraged to be in touch via email to organise a brief, no-obligation consultation prior to booking a colour service.

Rescheduling/cancellation:
Rescheduling or cancellation requires a minimum of 48 hours notice. Any changes made within 48 hours of the allocated time will forfeit the attached booking fee. Booking fee refunds for appointments cancelled outside the 48 hour window will have a $3 processing fee deducted.

No Show:
If no advance notice of cancellation is provided and you do not arrive to your scheduled appointment, the full base cost of the service will be charged before future appointments can be scheduled. Rescheduling or cancellation requires a minimum of 48 hours notice. Any changes made within 48 hours of the allocated time will forfeit the deposit regardless of the payment type used.

Late arrival:
If you arrive more than 15 minutes late for your appointment, even with advance notice, it is at the discretion of the studio to truncate or reschedule your appointment. It is at the discretion of the studio to charge for the full length of the booked appointment if your appointment is truncated or to retain your booking fee should your appointment need to be rescheduled.

Rhodes and Hart Studio is GST registered.
EFTPOS and credit card facilities are available for in-person payments,

Claire's haircuts are performed on dry hair, allowing her to observe and shape hair in its natural state. Claire's approach to colouring hair is to embrace natural depth, working to enhance -not mask- the hair in its natural form. This serves to create longer periods of time between appointments, allowing colour to be refreshed seasonally or -in many cases- once or twice per year.

Your Top Up is completely customised and may be different each visit. Techniques included may include: Face-frame highlights, lowlights, brightening of ends, wet balayage, base brighten OR base colour/grey coverage and balance and shine of mid-lengths and ends. Always tied together with a gloss top coat and a conditioning treatment and finished with a blow-dry or diffuse-dry.
Olaplex 1 & 2 are used throughout this service.

Beginning with a thorough consultation, your hair type and texture is analysed along with your face shape, personal brand and your expectations regarding styling and day-to-day care. A dry haircut is followed by a cleanse, condition and low-fuss blow wave or diffuse-dried finish.

While dry haircutting lends itself particularly well to shaping curly/textured hair, please note that no specific curly hair method is followed here. If you follow a particular method, it is recommended that you find a curly hair cutter who observes the same methodology.
